PARISH COUNCIL MEMORIAL GARDEN AT SUSSEX ROAD, CHAPELTOWN

In 2007 the Parish Council Memorial Garden at Sussex Road was looking in a sorry state. Money has been spent by the Parish Council to upgrade the garden so that people had a recognisable place to remember all those who had lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars and also in all the wars since World War 2. A new stone has been erected in the garden this year and this was kindly sponsored by Mr Eric Eyre and was unveiled at the Service of Remembrance on the 7 November 2009. A Book of Remembrance will also be kept at the Parish Council Offices for names to be entered of all those in the Parish who have died in recent wars and conflicts.

Macmillan Coffee Morning 2009

Following the success of last year's Macmillan Coffee morning, the Councillors and staff at Ecclesfield Parish Council held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on the 18 September 2009. The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress Cllr and Mrs Oxley kindly opened the event this year.

The morning was well attended and they are delighted to announce that they have nearly doubled the amount raised from last year. This year the Council and staff raised over £450.00 and would like to thank everyone who attended the event and gave their support to this worthy cause. It also gave residents of the Parish chance to meet with Councillors and to see where grants have been given throughout the Parish for the benefit of local people.

Chairman Cllr Howard House received an invitation to judge the Indoor Cooking Competition on Saturday 13 February 2010 at the 82nd Scout Headquarters on Burncross Road in Chapeltown. The Chairman thoroughly enjoyed the event along with his wife Sue House and below are some of the photographs taken at the event. Standards were very high with approximately 60-80 children taking part in groups. The winning group was the 32nd Sheffield Stocksbridge Group.
