Chapeltown in Bloom are a friendly group of local residents who are committed to improving the Chapeltown area and environment, as well as improving community spirit. They meet regularly to tidy up "grot spots", maintain planting, raise funding and work alongside local schools.
Monthly work groups meet to clean up and litter pick or help with planting. The Group have placed wooden planters around the town which were made by the pupils at Ecclesfield School, as you can see from the photographs it give the pupils a sense of ownership and pride in their work.
Much hard work has been carried out over the Spring and Summer period in preparation for the "In Bloom" judging days and it has made such a difference to the appearance of the centre of Chapeltown. They need volunteers to give a spare hour to help with tidying and planting, help with publicity and desiging a website and also fundraising. The group work on Saturday mornings and meet on Thursday evenings - contact either John Housley 0114 2464481 or Howard House on 07813 701679 if you would like to become a member of the group. |
