Born in Sheffield in 1943, I have lived in Burncross/Chapeltown for approximately forty years and am married to Sue who is an Osteoporosis Nurse Practitioner at the Northern General Hospital
I have been involved with the motor industry all my working life, for the first 23 years, starting “on the tools” as a panel beater in a major dealership body shop through foreman & finally managing it.
For the latter 28 years I have been in sales management in the industry, working for both national & regional companies working mainly in the North of England. I am now retired.
I joined the Parish Council in May 2007 and have served as both Vice Chairman & Chairman. I have also represented the parish council on various committees & associated groups. This has now become my passion and along with volunteer work takes up most of my time.
My main focus is in re-developing a community spirit in the parish by working with groups such as: Burncross Action Team who have developed a terrific community spirit in Burncross. Friends Of Charlton Brook who have raised circa £100,000 to improve the open space & de-silt the dam. Chapeltown in Bloom which I was instrumental in resurrecting and is now doing excellent work in Chapeltown and Chapeltown Community Centre who are refurbishing the community centre, just off Burncross Road. I find this a very satisfying & sociable pastime & I am proud to say that the groups mentioned have made a great difference locally, both in terms of improving the area & helping to keep it litter free.
