I have lived in High Green since 1976, and I think it’s a lovely place to live, so when I was asked if I was interested in standing for the Parish Council, I had no hesitation in accepting, as I do care about where I live and the people, who live in the Parish.
I was lucky enough to get elected onto the Parish Council in May 1991 to represent High Green, and I am really enjoying it. I have been on the Planning Committee each year and there has been a big change in Planning Laws, so we are kept on our toes trying to keep up with all the new Laws etc.
I also help out at two Lunch Clubs (for the over 60’s) in the Parish. Again this is on a voluntary basis but the people who come look forward to their hot meal and so it is enjoyable and rewarding knowing that we are helping them.
I was very honoured and very proud when I was chosen to be the Chair of the Parish Council last year 2008-2009. It has been very tiring and exhausting at times but very enjoyable.
You do not realise how much time is involved being a Parish Councillor, but I would not swap it as it is a very self rewarding and I will keep on doing my best for the people of High Green while ever they keep voting me back on.
